FOUNDER AND HISTORY

Manuka honey from ACTIVIST - turning lifestyle into a business

Meet Gabrielle and Luke - He is a passionate surfer, she was art director of US Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. They share a love of the outdoors and a childhood spent in New Zealand. Luke was the driving force behind the founding of the sustainable company. Through his great passion - surfing - and his love of the New Zealand coastline, he knew the important role bees play in our environment. During her time as an art director in New York City, Gabrielle longed for a slower pace and themes outside of the fast-paced fashion world. She has always been interested in a healthy lifestyle, naturopathy and conscious nutrition. Together they decided to found ACTIVIST. In this way, they want to pass on their lifestyle to us all.

  • Surfing with the beekeepers

As a family-run business, ACTIVIST is now making the unique Manuka honey with the valuable ingredient methylglyoxal available to everyone. With lots of tips on how to use it and delicious recipes, Luke and Gabrielle help us to enjoy a healthy and conscious lifestyle. As founders, they are also very involved themselves - be it in relation to their beekeepers, with whom they even go surfing together, or to customers and business partners worldwide. Together with their son, Cisco, the couple currently live in sunny California and live their iconic, relaxed and all-round conscious lifestyle.

  • Authentic Manuka honey from New Zealand

ACTIVIST founders Luke and Gabrielle are not interested in making a quick profit. Rather, they are happy to accept slower growth in order to be able to offer their Manuka honey from New Zealand authentically and honestly to customers who are looking for precisely this lifestyle. Produced in harmony with nature, ACTIVIST's manuka honey should remain as raw and untreated as possible in order to preserve its natural effect. At the same time, the couple want to set an example and support honey bees, which are now highly endangered worldwide. Passion and commitment to nature - this is what ACTIVIST's Manuka honey embodies.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

The boost for your immune system: Manuka honey from New Zealand

What makes Manuka honey from ACTIVIST so special? It is the natural active ingredient methylglyoxal. It has an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect and actively supports the immune system. It is obtained by ACTIVIST bees, which pollinate the New Zealand manuka bush in a small time window between spring and summer, where they absorb this valuable active ingredient and process it into their honey.

  • Independently tested and certified: Manuka honey from ACTIVIST is exclusive and authentic

Activist Mānuka is independently tested and certified in New Zealand. The MGO rating system indicates the content of methylglyoxal in the honey and verifies authentic Manuka honey.
The MGO certification is scientific, precise and transparent and leaves no room for deception. Products that do not have an MGO or UMF rating are unlikely to be genuine Manuka Honey.
ACTIVIST's raw Manuka Honey is unpasteurized and minimally processed to ensure that the honey you receive is exactly as nature intended - raw and untouched.

  • MGO rating - a sign of true efficacy

The MGO rating is a recognized sign of genuine Manuka Honey. It assesses the natural characteristics of manuka honey and guarantees purity and quality. The higher the MGO rating, the higher the antibacterial activity of the unique honey. You will find three levels of manuka honey in our range:

    • ACTIVIST Manuka Honey 100+ MGO has a therapeutic effect on your body and your well-being
    • ACTIVIST Manuka Honey 300+ MGO has a proven antibacterial effect
    • ACTIVIST Manuka Honey 850+ MGO already has a medicinal effect
